Coming! Rapidan StreamSweepers Eco-Job Corps

This project’s got it all! What do you have when you combine a new “Friends” group for a headwaters Chesapeake Bay Watershed, a youth training and summer eco-jobs program, and landowners on both sides of a river (in different counties) coming together to help each other and nature? Rapidan StreamSweepers!

This summer, a group of a couple dozen landowners and their Friends in Orange and Madison Counties, Virginia will test a pilot project to see if River Eco-Screening and Cleaning (Sweeping) can be morphed into a service staffed by high school students from Orange and Madison Counties and area colleges, led by American Canoe Association Instructor and Area River Guide Beth Seale (Rapidan River Kayak Company). Then, using a documentary prepared by videographers Phil and Suzie Audibert, Ahyayha will launch a Fall project for StreamSweepers Infrastructure needed for 2014 expansion of the program.
