Shenandoah National Park wants to train surrounding public school teachers to bring Blue Ridge Mountain folklore into their classes. The Shenandoah National Park Trust’s Teacher~Ranger~Teacher project provides funding directly to teachers that want to be trained as a summer Park Ranger. Neither public schools nor the Park Service has funds to undertake this project without your support. Your contribution pledged to this project goes directly to a local Virginia teacher. The Broadway High School, Virginia Science Department needs support to transport kids to conduct stream monitoring in the Shenandoah River Watershed. Public Schools have had their budgets slashed and don’t have the resources to support field education initiatives such as this without additional support. Check out the Broadway High School videos of how these kids have built their own monitoring equipment to keep learn about the Shenandoah Valley and keep watch over its water quality. Ahyayha connects you directly with conservation projects like this one. Please support the Department’s need for a long-term monitoring fund.
